What Breed of Cat Are You? It came up with Scottish Fold, a cute breed with folded ears, silver fur and yellow eyes. The Scottish Fold’s little ears give it an owl like appearance. They are loving, good natured, and playful! Folds are also known for sitting with their legs stretched out and their paws on their belly in the “Buddha Position.”

In 2009, Maru, a Scottish Fold cat, became an Internet sensation due to his obsession with boxes. Due to his Internet popularity, several commercials have been produced featuring the cat.
Popular YouTube bloggers, Simon and Martina aka Eatyourkimchi acquired a Scottish Fold kitten, Dr. Meemersworth, in July 2012.
“Waffles” is the name of a Scottish Fold cat, featured on the Facebook page “Waffles The Cat”. The page has over 440,000 likes as of July 2014.

Very cute cats, and lovely to think that’s what you’d be. Just so you know, in case silver isn’t your favorite color, Scottish folds come in every color and pattern, from tabby, to calico, and everything in between. So you have a choice. They also come in at least 3 ear types, folded at the tip, and close, nearly flat to the head. (Because it is a natural, genetic mutation, straight-eared kittens are born in most litters, and are just as beautiful, with their round little faces). My favorites are the in between ones, like the first fold discovered on a farm in Scotland. (I think she may have been a calico). They also come in long-haired versions, as well.

I hear they have wonderful temperaments, and I’d love to be thought of as a Scottish fold, myself. Lucky you. I’ll take the test later. These can be fun, though I often find questions that don’t include my preferred answer, so I have to pick one, sort of eeny-meeny style.

Hi Marcia. I’m pleased to be thought of as a Scottish fold. As you say some of the questions didn’t quite match my desired responses completely but I just went for the closest match. I loved your link by the way. The black one with the startling blue eyes is gorgeous, well they all are really. So full of character, nice to find out about them today, particularly as I have some Scottish ancestry. 🙂

Glad you enjoyed the link. I’ve always thought I’d like to have one, since I’m especially fond of cats with very round faces, and sweet dispositions. They appeal to me more than what we call the “foreign body type,” like Siamese, etc. Maybe because I’M round, and not lean, myself. 😀 I absolutely love British shorthairs, too, with their apple faces and cobby, stocky bodies. But I’m a sucker for almost any cat. We have four.

Oh, you’re so lucky to have so many cats. I have a fondness for the good old ginger tom cat, but just about any cat with a friendly nature would get my approval.

Add two dachshunds to the mix, and we have about four animals too many. When the dogs shuffle off to that great Lizard Hunting Ground in the Sky, we’ll be sticking to cats, and maybe someday, only two of them. Six animals gets really expensive. Monthly flea treatments alone run close to $100!! And don’t even ask me how much I spend on kitty litter. Ack!! But we love them all!

Wow, must be a busy household. I just have myself, my hubby and my younger daughter now. No pets, my husband says he’s allergic but I reckon he’s allergic to the cost! My eldest has gone off to University. The house seems very quiet without her. 😦

It really IS expensive to give animals the proper care and regular medical care, etc, that they need. Another reason to cut back. We are animal rich right now…or animal poor…you could look at it either way. Plus I feed the backyard birds, and when they are laying eggs, I bring in butterfly larva to raise and release, so the wasps don’t get them all. We have an suburban backyard filled with a surprising amount of wild life, including birds from hummingbirds to the occasional bald eagle, a kajillion pesky squirrels, numerous lizards and frogs, and my favorite snakes, black racers, who eat lots of pests, and are beautiful surprises when I catch them basking on the warm bricks on our patio. I love nature, and having a little slice of it in our yard makes me happy.

I see where you get all your inspiration for your writing from. We back onto parkland so often see a visiting deer in our garden. There are masses of trees too so lots of birds, which wake us up in the early morning with their bird song!

No deer here. Have to go to my friend’s houses, or canoeing to see them, usually. But lots of other stuff. All of Florida’s wildlife was in my mind when I wrote Swamp Ghosts, so you’re right about the inspiration. I just watched the video of Maru, btw, and it is SO cute! Adorable. Oh, and I ended up as a Scottish Fold, too, on your test. But I suspect that was because on two of the answers, I went with haIr instead of size. Had I chosen size, instead of hair, I’d probably have ended up with Ragdoll. 🙂
