I couldn’t agree more with wonderful blog post from Don Massenzio. Indie authors are stronger together.

Ghostly Goodbye by M J Mallon
Ghostly Goodbye is a paranormal love story about a young woman called Iris who can’t get over her husband’s death. She is mourning him so much that she feels dead inside. Her husband Ed sends her a ghostly message from beyond the grave via an old forgotten garment in her wardrobe. She responds by dragging herself from her tomb-like bed and he draws back the curtain of death to visit her in a most unusual way.

Rodeo #4: Fractured Fairy Tales: Goldilocks Hates Chocolate
Well done to the winners. The winning entries here – https://carrotranch.com/2018/12/07/rodeo-4-fractured-fairy-tales-winners/
Including second prize to my friend Hugh, an honourable mention to Debby Gies – (my friend, and Sister of the Fey.) and this highly entertaining lovely chap – Geoff Le Pard also had an honourable mention.
I didn’t win but this is my entry:
Goldilocks Hates Chocolate
Goldilocks was due to arrive at any moment. Little bear kept a look-out for papa bear and mama bear hoping that they wouldn’t return too early from their leisurely morning walk.
Goldilocks sauntered in and handed little bear a huge chocolate croissant which he ate down greedily.
Goldie sat on the floor and tucked in to little bear’s bowl of steaming porridge.
‘Ugh, how can you eat that muck, Goldie?’
‘It’s yummy. I hate chocolate and sweet things.’
‘With a name like Goldilocks it’s no wonder you’re weird. Porridge reminds me of sticky snot.’
‘Rubbish, it’s mighty gold-i-delicious gunk!’

#BookReview: As Good As Gold: A dog’s life in poems
As Good as Gold: A dog’s life in poems
Goodreads Synopsis:
As engaging as a tail wag.
Celebrating the simple things in life as seen through the eyes of our old time favorite furry friends, “As Good as Gold” is a volume of poetry revealing the talent and humor we always knew our dogs possessed.
Dogs are full of questions, yet they are famed sellers of innocence especially when it comes to explaining their mishaps and often foolish effervescence through such pondering as “Why IS a Cat Not Like a Dog”, “As Brown as Chocolate”, “Silver Stars and Puppy Tail” or, best yet, “Dog or Book?”
A book with an enormous heart for readers of all ages, it includes 35 poems and haiku accompanied by expressive portraits of our canine friends. The poems are grouped in: Questions, Colors, Musings and Haiku.
* Ideal to boost you up by reading one poem at a time,
* Great conversational piece to have around on a rainy day,
* Fantastic tool to discuss colors in nature and everyday questions with your little ones,
* A gentle way to introduce children to animals’ feelings,
* Amazing picture to cheer you up.
* An ideal gift for any dog lovers!
My review
A very sweet book of poems and haiku about dogs, nature and dog’s human! It made me smile a lot. I really enjoyed the poem at the end about cats too (cats are my preferred animal but I love dogs too.) This would particularly appeal to readers who enjoy poems about animals, snowmen, Christmas, and life through the eyes of some very cute dogs. I loved the lovely photos of our furry friends in the book too.
It’s a feel good collection of doggy poetry which would be an ideal gift for Christmas.
I received a copy from the author in exchange for a fair review. All opinions are my own and unbiased.
Recommended, particularly for doggy and poetry enthusiasts!
My rating: 4 very woof woof stars.

Colleens Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No 112 – #Travel #Lisbon #Photography #HardRockCafe #Music #Accident #Trip #Fall
My hubby and I went for a long weekend to Lisbon. Unfortunately I had a fall on holiday and hurt my foot. I’d been out the night before at the Hard Rock Cafe, (indulging in cocktails and behaving like I’m one of the youngsters.)
My hubby and I were listening to a very good cover band. The next day I was feeling pretty good – no hangover! But it was raining heavily and the cobbled pavements were very slippery.
We arrived at this spot – we’d been there the evening before. This was taken when it was sunny…
The next day the band were there again. They were about to set up. Imagine those wet cobble stones, see that foot. It’s probably mine. Yes, you get the picture.
I felt a sharp pain
Hubby rushed to help me up
Good nothing broken
A hard rock holiday fall
A low-risk trip, groan get up!
So the band and my hubby rushed towards me to help. I felt like a celebrity!
It was my birthday but it was not quite what I had in mind for a birthday present. Lol.
Still the Altis hotel made up for it with this unexpected surprise.
Luckily no major harm done but I am still hobbling about a bit.
… Ouch.. I should have caught this instead…
If I had I would have admired this awesome graffiti… Which I did on another occasion.
I should have hugged a tree instead to stay safe. This one reminded me of an enormous, hairy gorilla with big caring arms!
Luckily the first two days were very sunny. Blue shades weather. I pinched my hubby’s sunglasses. He said they suited me!
We saw some wild life – this charming fellow caught my eye… He looks astonished doesn’t he? Camera shy perhaps? Or perhaps he heard about my fall.
All in all I had a lovely birthday break away in Lisbon. It’s a beautiful city, I’d really recommend a visit.
I LOVE PORTUGAL.
But watch out for those cobbled streets in the rain. I wish I hadn’t had that fall. But, it could have been much worse.
I’m grateful I didn’t get whisked away in an ambulance – this has happened to me and various other family members before…
We are very accident prone. Check out this post:

Rodeo #3: Travel with a Twist – The Winning Entries and my flash
I didn’t win but was thrilled to learn that my friend Colleen Chesebro won first prize!
First Place: A Visit with Grammy, by Colleen Chesebro, who wins a cash prize of $25
Jess ran. She couldn’t miss this bus, or Grammy would worry at her late arrival.
She stumbled into the queue as a woman towing a wheeled suitcase pushed past her. Jess swerved to miss it, whacking the woman’s elbow with her own. She stepped out of the way and bumped into the man in front of her.
“Sorry,” Jess muttered.
“Ouch! Who’s there?” asked the woman.
“It wasn’t me,” said the man.
Then, Jess remembered. They couldn’t see or hear her, only feel her ghostly touch. She didn’t need to ride the bus to visit Grammy – she flew.
Wonderful news. You can read all the winning entries via this link:

The very silly entry below is mine! On re-reading this all I can think of is… Whatever was I thinking of… I liked the idea but it definitely needed a longer format such as a short story to pull it off… Lol. Hope it makes you laugh…
Michael opened the pill pack and saw a tiny warning – you may experience unknown side effects. He disregarded caution and swallowed. As he boarded the plane, he felt no flight anxiety, but a weird sensation lingered around his nipples. He took his seat and within seconds he fell asleep. Before he knew it, the plane landed and he made his way towards his lover. His body trembled with excitement. As he approached her, she looked past him. She wasn’t wearing her glasses, so he hugged her. She shrieked.
His huge breasts and an absence between his legs overwhelmed her.
Crazy! Oh my…
