Trying out the differing haiku formats
In the 3/5/3 format:
Summer time
Holiday tattoo
Memories
In the 2/3/2 format:
Henna
Tattoo time
Sun fun!

And a new form I’ve never come across before:
Gogyohka – no restrictions…
A simple silver band
Could be overlooked
Amongst henna tattoos
Flowers escaping
Fingernails unpolished.

Nice Haikus! I didn’t even know there were alternative forms, pretty cool.

These are lovely, Marje. I’ve never heard of a Gogyohka. Nicely done.

Cool. Yes, it’s January, let’s cut back on syllables, get our haiku slim and trim. And then bust out into Gogyohka. You say that form is unrestricted… is it by coincidence that the syllable count is 6,5,6,5,6? It is balanced and to me that is why any haiku form “works”.
Thanks for the fine poems and the education. (I prefer the last one too; there’s a bit more story there)

Purely coincidence. That’s interesting! I prefer the longer ones too. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

Well done with all three forms, Marje. Your Gogyoka is impressive. I’m trying to find more information about this form and will share when I do. ❤
