In response to Charli Mill’s challenge this is my entry.
I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of Charli’s dear dog Bobo, pets are family and to lose a dear family member is so hard.
My piece of dog flash, dedicated to Bobo.
‘What’s the point of these daisies?’ Bandit asked.
‘I’ve no idea, you can’t eat them, their flowers smell’s rank, but our human pets like them,’ replied Duchess.
Bandit poked his nose towards human pet Annie, who was sitting on the grass making a daisy chain.
‘Stop nosing about Bandit! Hey, girl.’ Annie stroked Bandit’s imaginary friend’s coat and popped a daisy chain over her head.
Bandit barked.
‘Okay Bandit, I have one for you too. Look how it contrasts with your black coat, boy.’
‘Woof!’
The two Labradors ran away, one black, another camouflaged by the field of daisies.

Aw, that was sweet. I like to think our dogs keep frolicking in the daisies after they’ve left their corporeal bodies.

What a great piece of flash fiction, Marje. I had to read it several times because I enjoyed it so much. So out of the box compared to the others I’ve read who have also participated in the challenge. Love the thought of us humans as human pets. And a dog having an imaginary friend! Now that’s the best.

Aww thank you Hugh. My mind is a bit crazy at times… lol. who knows where that came from. I’ve always thought that our pets think of us as their pets. Especially cats, but perhaps dogs too. It’s an interesting thought! Lol. Hope you are having a restful Sunday and staying safe from the storm. I’ve barricaded myself in for the day. x

It’s a lovely idea about pets thinking humans as their pets, Marje. I often say to our dogs, “Come on, time to take your dad for a walk.”
With 80mph gales coming off Swansea Bay, I’m not going anywhere either. Although the dogs will need a quick walk later, so I guess I’m going to have to go out again.

Oh take care Hugh. It’s still windy here but not as bad as other parts of the country. My hubby’s up visiting his mum and my folks in Edinburgh and it’s been bad up there.
