Today, I thought I’d join in with Colleen’s Weekly #Tanka poetry prompt. I’ve never written a Tanka before. I have had some experience of writing haiku so hopefully, it shouldn’t be too difficult. After all, it’s just a case of adding two extra lines at the end of a haiku format, so instead of 5,7,5 we have 5,7,5,7,7…. in the first section you put forward the image in the reader’s mind that you want to convey and the final two lines should express the poet’s ideas about that image.
Colleen’s prompt words are:
Bloom and Late
So here goes… Be gentle on me it is my first Tanka!!
Ahem, I’m not quite sure where that last line came from…. LOL!!!

Bye for now,
You did good.
Thank you Richard. I do so love writing poetry. 🙂
Good for the soul
Way to go, Marje! ❤ I totally loved the last line! 😘❤
Thank you Colleen, it was such fun. Love having a go at writing poetry. 🙂
I love Haiku and Tanka because they are mini scenes (like a miniature snapshot of a moment in time). You should write some about your novel and the crystals… 😀
I agree. Yes, that would be so fun to do. I’m planning to do a throwback post soon about an early source of my inspiration – a crystal grotto! Perhaps I could add some haiku, and or tanka to that. 🙂
Absolutely. Anything to draw interest into your book where readers can get a look into why you wrote it. <3
Thanks Colleen. 🙂
Way to go! I like it:)
Thank you. 🙂
Well done, and I love the message. As to exotic dreams – I think that our miserable weather makes you dream of something exotic 😉
I’m so not a winter person… what I’d do for some sunshine just now!! Bring on the spring, and the summer. 🙂
That’s exotic enough 🙂
Keep embracing those dreams!
Thanks Al, I will! 🙂
You have certainly taken up the challenge Marje, this poem is great. I cannot move out of 3/5./3 haiku any more.
Thanks so much Denis. So encouraging of you. 🙂
Very nice-…. Diversity is the spice of life, as the saying goes… You are a “diverse” , talented writer, dear Marje…. Sending love. Happy weekend 😀
Ah, thank you so much really appreciate your kind, generous comment. Love to you too. Happy weekend dear Amalia. 🙂
