Well what a year 2020 has been! One in which, I have experienced the whole spectrum of emotions from tearfulness, to joy and relief.

It has been a year in which I haven’t felt like writing long fiction and instead contributed short stories in anthologies and created my first anthology/compilation with some wonderful author friends and creatives: This Is Lockdown which came out in kindle in July 2020.

This is Lockdown is now available to buy in paperback and for a short time only I have reduced the price to £4.99 – a steal! I’ve reduced it to this low price in anticipation of reviews of the shorter paperback version which is slightly different from the kindle – there are no personal diary entries – these are only available on the kindle.

Thank you so much to Ritu for the first review of the paperback! And what a glowing review it is!

Ritu 5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 December 2020 Verified Purchase

This Is Lockdown is a compilation unlike any other, documenting the thoughts and feelings of the main author, M J Mallon, and many other contributors, with regards to the Pandemic Lockdown of 2020, that affected the whole world.

Part one features some fiction pieces written by MJ Mallon, inspired by the pandemic.

Part two is a collection of thoughts and poetry from writing contributors around the world, detailing the effects of lockdown on their personal lives, how it’s affected their work, creativity, and family.

Definitely one to read and savour. A true document to remember this crazy time.

I have also reduced the paperback price of my YA Fantasy The Curse of Time, to £5.99. So do grab a bargain before the price goes up!

Recently, I was saddened to learn via a dear friend of mine of a brave young woman, Emily Parsons, who is raising money for a rare spinal tumour that affects youngsters. Sadly, her cancer is at the moment incurable. I have decided to support her JustGiving Page and donate. She has currently exceeded her original target –

105%£52,755raised of £50,000 target by 1778 supporters

Each year at this time, I will donate to a chosen charity on New Year’s Eve. Also, I will take part in the Charity Children In Read which I participated in this year donating a copy of my YA Fantasy, The Curse of Time. In the auction, I bid for a copy of Christina Gabbittas’s No More Knives which I won!

We are all hoping that 2021 will be a better year and that the vaccine will save many lives and allow us to return to a happier more carefree life.

Sending you love and light. Wishing you happiness, health and precious time to do what you love. x

Happy New Year!!!

Wishing you all much health, happiness and joy in 2020.

I have a good feeling about the coming year and I expect it will be much better than 2019. It’s been a wonderful break over the holiday period spent with my hubby and two daughters. I have many exciting things to look forward to in 2020 including the forthcoming release of two books: My YA fantasy: The Curse of Time Book 2 Golden Healer (which has and continues to be such hard work and a definite challenge) phew! And a book of poetry and prose which I am currently working on. Title to be revealed soon!

Happy New Year and Happy Creating! Xxx

RonovanWrites #Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt #Challenge #77 Year and New

This week for Ronovan Writes Haiku Prompt Challenge I’m going to share with you some photos of myself and my family that I took on the 1st of January just before the fireworks were scheduled to be set off the award winning pier at Cromer. If you managed to see my previous post you will have seen that we are taking a short New Year’s break in Cromer. https://atomic-temporary-67364188.wpcomstaging.com/2015/12/31/happy-new-year-2/

The photo above is of one of the finale fireworks,  isn’t it absolutely wonderful?

Here we are huddled together trying to keep warm, we stopped for a quick hot chocolate, just before the display.

The fireworks were spectacular, and my only regret is that I didn’t have a good enough camera to do justice to their beauty but nevertheless here they are in all their wonderment:

I just loved how this one turned out, to me it looks like a pretty present with a sparkling lid, and the one immediately after it resembles some kind of beautiful sea creature.

And this particular fellow is an explosion of flowers.

And this the biggest fizzing lollipop you are ever going to see!

As to this one, it looks like a giant creepy crawly to me!! What do you reckon?

They were all so amazing that they inspired me to write a haiku with them in mind:

A New Year Divine

A New Year divine,

So sublime the heavens smile!

Fireworks in motion.

Followed by a Tanka:

A pretty present

All wrapped in shimmering light

Perhaps it is real?

A momentary delight

Sending our senses reeling.

A tanka consists of 5 lines and 31 syllables.

Each line has a set number of syllables see below:

Line 1    5 syllables

Line 2   7 syllables

Line 3   5 syllables

Line 4   7 syllables

Line 5    7 syllables

Happy New Year !!

20151231_103858

This is the view from our holiday apartment in Cromer, yesterday we arrived to a lovely surprise, a free bottle of Prosecco, as well as some chocolate biscuits and tea and coffee!! As you can see the sky is blue and so is the sea in the distance. I’m looking forward to going out with the family later to explore the surrounding area.

We went on a search for a Fish and Chip shop, and eventually found one in Sheringham.

After a tour around we arrived back at Cromer and went for a walk down to the pier.

Then on the way back to the apartment we popped into Cromer church and I had this spooky feeling that we might get locked in. Sure enough we nearly did get locked in, as we were leaving a young man arrived and began locking up!  I said to my husband what would have happened if he hadn’t noticed we were there? Perhaps we would have spent New Year’s Eve in the church (our daughters were back at the apartment. ) He replied that he always fancied a night in a church, particularly on New Year’s Eve! That thought didn’t appeal to me !

Tomorrow there are to be fireworks in the early evening in Cromer, what a wonderful way to welcome the New Year in. Lucky residents of Cromer!! How are you spending New Year?

Have a very Happy New Year, thanks for all your support and encouragement following, commenting and liking posts on Kyrosmagica, it means so much to me.

Bye for now see you in 2016!!!
