Olive Cotton’s fantastic photography reblogged from The Art of Quotation. Fascinating effect ordinary objects make when shadowed.

Art of Quotation

”You hope that what you take out of your own circumstances is sustaining,”

– Olive Cotton, 1911-2003, photographer, Australian

Olive Cotton –
A photographer whose work straddles pictorialism, modernism and documentary, Cotton maintained an independent vision throughout her working life, based on the close observation of nature. Her understanding of the medium of photography was not to do with capture, but rather ‘drawing with light’. ( http://www.artgallery.nsw.gov.au/collection/works/174.2006/ )
